“Culture Context, Pentecostal Experience, and Knowing God”

There are both parallels and differences as to how Pentecostalism originated and developed in Chile and in the United States. In both cases, the Pentecostal movement can be interpreted as a type of religious revitalization, where a rapid change in religious belief is brought about by increased individual and collective stress experienced during rapidly changing social conditions. The next section will provide a brief outline of the origins of Pentecostal revitalization in the United States and Chile and will further illustrate some of the similarities and differences between the two. Following that will be sections devoted to an overview of the ethnographic research conducted; a discussion of the findings; and our conclusions.
