Abstract

“Menelik II: A Century of Ethiopian Politics and Culture in Narrative Form” under the direction of Dr. Solomon Hailu. This research considers how Ethiopia's past has influenced its political and cultural atmospheres today—specifically, how the actions of Emperor Menelik II created a violent and prolonged clash between the two largest people groups in Ethiopia. The research has been assembled in the form of a historical fiction novel, which contains authentic timelines, descriptions, characterizations, and dialogue. The manuscript is in its final stage of editing and stands at 65,000 words (300 pages). Representation for publication is currently being sought.
