Rejuvenation of a Denomination: The Experience of the Church of Pentecost, Ghana

I deploy critical analysis, ethnographic techniques of in-depth interviews with CoP leadership, socio-history and my own immersion as a member of the CoP since the early 1990s. I argue that the rejuvenation of the CoP is also a result of cultural innovativeness that the post-Yeboah's regime, focusing particularly on Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, invested in choreographing a new image for the church. I maintain that, given Onyinah’s training at the University of Birmingham and his appreciation of cultural innovativeness and theological creativity, he incorporated adaptive leadership skills that helped the church to move away from Akan cultural atavism to embracing local and global geopolitical and cultural existential discursive realities.
