Description
Whilst reading the book of Jonah it dawned on me that in Jonah 4:10-11 the prophet received a prophetic admonition from Yahweh. Jonah 4:10-11 is in actual fact a prophetic word to the prophet, reprimanding him for a lack of insight in Yahweh’s grace. The question this paper wishes to address is the purpose of the book Jonah, in particular Jonah 4:10-11. It is debateable whether or not we are missing the point (or one major point) of the book of Jonah, with a too narrow approach, i.e. focussing on the miraculous fish episode in the book.
