“Opposing Visions: Early Eschatologies in the Church of God Evangel (1910-1923)”

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the eschatology articulated in the early years of The Church of God Evangel. Examining the periodical literature of early Pentecostalism allows the reader to discover the perspectives then current within a broad constituency of the movement, as numerous authors from various levels of membership are represented. A primary issue addressed by this paper is the extent to which classical dispensationalism was promoted among early Pentecostals and what other perspectives on eschatology may have been present.
