Abstract
Through Agenda 2063, the African Union committed to financial sovereignty by establishing key continental financial institutions. Yet, these institutions remain unrealized. The doctoral project argues that the central challenge lies in a deficit of collective agency—compounded by fragmentation, weak coordination, and limited strategic leadership. It further highlights a lack of strategic foresight in shaping Africa’s future. Drawing on decolonial, foresight, and collective action frameworks, it argues that Africa’s financing sovereignty is essential to its transformation. It calls for deliberate, coordinated action to build these institutions as a pathway to emancipated and prosperous African futures.
