Title: Christian Ministry to Refugees in the Contrasting Settings of Greece and Germany
Abstract:
The influx of refugees into Europe from the Middle East since 2015 provides significant mission and witness opportunities for followers of Jesus in Western Europe. The religious, economic, and political settings of refugee entry cities in Greece differ significantly from those of destination cities in Germany. These environmental factors influence the shape of ministry to refugees in these divergent contexts. Persons engaged in ministry to refugees in these two contexts were interviewed in order to discover emerging trends and effective practices for ministry to refugees.
Bio:
Dr. John P. Thompson serves as the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Oral Roberts University and teaches in the areas of leadership and missiology. His research interest is in evangelism and mission particularly in the European context. In addition to working in academics, he has been a church planter of a multi-national church, a director of several non-profits, pastoral-staff in a local church, and has lived overseas.
