Abstract
This organizational intervention project explores how Crown I Enterprises, a Sysco SSMG company, effectively managed a supply chain disruption caused by a national semolina flour shortage that led to the discontinuation of Marzetti lasagna sheets. The disruption posed a significant threat to the company’s revenue and customer relationships. To mitigate the impact, the author implemented a multi-faceted intervention leveraging Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model and Total Quality Management (TQM) principles. The intervention included rapid supplier identification and evaluation, product reformulation, thorough nutritional analysis, recipe modifications, and proactive communication with key clients. The company also updated its internal systems and provided comprehensive staff training to ensure a seamless transition. The study highlights the importance of agile change management, cross-functional collaboration, a customer-centric approach, and the application of TQM principles in effectively managing supply chain disruptions. Key findings demonstrate that proactive risk assessment, strong supplier relationships, and robust communication are critical for mitigating the impact of disruptions. The successful resolution of this disruption not only minimized customer impact and preserved revenue stability but also provided Crown I Enterprises with a valuable framework for addressing future challenges. This case study offers valuable insights for food manufacturers facing similar supply chain disruptions.
