As healthcare systems face unprecedented challenges and rapid change, strategic foresight has emerged as an approach for enhancing resilience, adaptability, and innovation. Its potential extends to areas such as occupational health, equity-driven policy, and rural workforce planning. Despite its recognized value, strategic foresight remains underused in medical education and health leadership, limiting physician involvement in decision-making. There is a need for curriculum reforms and leadership training programs incorporating foresight competencies, equipping healthcare professionals to foster systemic innovation. This work explores how foresight methodologies can improve physicians' preparedness for future healthcare challenges, particularly by incorporating futures literacy and systems thinking into residency training. This project includes a literature review with thematic analysis of academic literature and policy documents. Additionally, Kotter's eight-step change model is proposed as a practical framework for implementing foresight in organizations, providing a structured approach to leadership in uncertain environments. Ultimately, this work underscores the potential of strategic foresight to support sustainable transformation in healthcare, aligning policies more closely with real-world practice and preparing future physicians to lead in an evolving global health landscape.
